Parental-consent notice
Draft — pending legal review
How a child's participation will work when the Curious Minds membership opens.
Children never sign up on their own
Only a parent or lawful guardian (an identifiable adult, 18 or older), or a teacher for a class pack, can create a Curious Minds account.
Verifiable consent comes first
Before any of a child's personal data is processed, the parent or lawful guardian gives verifiable consent, as required by Rule 10 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 (opens in a new tab). The way we verify this will be chosen with legal counsel before membership opens, and this notice will describe it.
What we will collect about a child, and why
- A display name (first name or nickname), so the child can see their own badges.
- An age band, so questions suit the reader.
- Badge progress (passed or completed), so the child can earn badges and a certificate.
We will not collect a child's photo, school, phone number, email address or home address.
What we will never do
- No advertising aimed at children.
- No tracking of children.
- No behavioural monitoring of children.
Class packs and schools
With a class pack, the teacher manages the class. How school consent works will be set with legal counsel and described here before class packs open.
Withdrawing consent and deleting a profile
A parent or guardian can withdraw consent and ask us to delete a child's profile at any time. When membership opens, this will be possible from the account, or by contacting us.
